Not Allergies. Not Anxiety. Silent Reflux.
The constant throat clearing. The voice that fades by afternoon. The lump you can't swallow away. If you've been treated for everything except reflux — and nothing stuck — there's a reason: reflux that skips the heartburn and goes for your throat is easy to miss. It's called LPR, and RefluxRaft was founded by the ENT specialists who see it every day.
Understanding the Connection
Understanding the Connection
Reflux Without Heartburn Is Still Reflux.
Reflux Without Heartburn Is Still Reflux.
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) happens when stomach contents — acid, but also digestive enzymes like pepsin — travel past the esophagus and reach your throat and voice box. That tissue is far more delicate than the esophagus, so even small, brief episodes cause significant irritation.
The episodes are usually quick and often gaseous, which is why there's no burning to warn you — and why the symptoms show up where nobody thinks to look for reflux: your throat, your voice, your morning cough. It's also why so many people spend a year or more being treated for allergies, sinus issues, or stress first. Only a clinician can diagnose LPR — but if the pattern below sounds familiar, what you're experiencing has a name, and it's worth asking about.

Common signs of silent reflux:
- Chronic cough or throat clearing (LPR)
- Chronic throat clearing, especially after meals
- Hoarseness, or a voice that fades as the day goes on
- A lump-in-the-throat feeling that won't swallow away
- A dry cough that outlasts every cold
- The sensation of constant post-nasal drip or excess mucus
- You've been told it's allergies or anxiety — while the symptoms continue

THE SCIENCE, SIMPLY EXPLAINED
Why Your Throat — and Why Acid-Blockers Often Miss It
Reflux Travels Higher Than You Think
In LPR, stomach contents don't stop at the esophagus.
They reach the larynx and pharynx — your throat and voice box —
often in small amounts, with no burning on the way up.
Throat Tissue Has No Defenses
The esophagus has natural protection against acid exposure.
Your vocal cords and throat lining don't. A few brief episodes a day
is all it takes to drive chronic clearing, hoarseness, and cough.
It's Not Just Acid
Pepsin — a digestive enzyme — travels with reflux and keeps irritating throat tissue
even when acid is low. That's why acid-reducing approaches alone often leave throat symptoms
unresolved: they change what's in the reflux without stopping the reflux itself.
DAILY PROTECTION
Your Voice Has Better Things to Do.
ANYTIME RELIEF
Lemon Ginger
The formula for a throat that's been working overtime. Lemon Ginger pairs the protective raft with deglycyrrhizinated licorice's (DGL) natural soothing — take it after meals, when silent reflux is most active, and give your voice a quieter afternoon.
ANYTIME RELIEF
Berry Burst
For the voice that fades by afternoon. Berry Burst delivers the same after-meal raft in a smooth berry flavor you'll actually look forward to — an easy daily habit for the symptoms that never took a day off.
NIGHTTIME RELIEF
Midnight Berry PM
Morning hoarseness, a raw throat at breakfast, first-hour coughing — that's nighttime reflux leaving a note. Taken 30 minutes before bed, Midnight Berry PM blocks overnight backflow. Quieter nights, clearer mornings.
A Better Way Forward
RefluxRaft is doctor-formulated to help relieve reflux symptoms and actively soothe the tissues it affects — without harsh medications.
-
Forms a Protective RaftDerived from brown seaweed, our Enhanced Alginate Therapy creates a natural physical barrier on top of stomach contents — blocking acid and enzymes from traveling upward.*
-
Soothes Irritated TissueCarefully selected functional ingredients go beyond blocking — actively calming the tissues reflux affects, for comprehensive relief that one-dimensional antacids can't provide.*
-
Know the SignsNo waiting for a pill to kick in. RefluxRaft gets to work fast after you take it — particularly effective after meals and before bed, when GLP-1-related reflux tends to peak.*
The RefluxRaft Barrier
RefluxRaft forms a gentle, raft-like barrier on top of stomach contents,
helping prevent acid from rising into the esophagus. At the same time,
it soothes and protects irritated tissue for lasting relief without disrupting digestion.
Step 01
After swallowing, RefluxRaft’s proprietary alginate complex reacts with stomach acid.
Step 02
The reaction gently releases tiny bubbles that lift the gel to the surface of the stomach contents, creating a floating barrier we call a “raft”.
Step 03
This “raft” sits on top of your stomach contents, stopping acid from rising into your esophagus. After 4 hours, the “raft” passes naturally—never entering your bloodstream.
Dr. Inna Husain, MD, laryngologist
"Most of my LPR patients spent a year or more being treated for allergies or told it was anxiety before anyone looked at reflux. The symptoms are real, the condition is real, and it has a mechanism — small amounts of stomach contents, including the enzyme pepsin, reaching tissue that was never built to handle them. That's also why acid suppression alone so often disappoints these patients: it changes what's in the reflux without stopping the reflux. A physical barrier addresses the backflow itself."
SILENT REFLUX, ANSWERED
Your Questions, Answered by the ENT Specialists Who Treat LPR
Both are reflux, but they behave differently and show up in different places. GERD involves prolonged acid exposure in the esophagus — that's the classic heartburn, and it often leaves visible irritation an endoscopy can find. LPR episodes are brief and often gaseous: small amounts of acid and pepsin travel quickly past the esophagus to the throat and voice box, frequently without any burning at all. The esophagus may look fine on a scope while the throat — which has almost no natural defense against acid or pepsin — accumulates real irritation.
The treatments differ for the same reason. Acid suppression reduces acid production, which serves GERD well. LPR symptoms are frequently driven by the non-acid components of reflux, especially pepsin — which is why ENT specialists often look beyond acid suppression to approaches that block the backflow itself, like alginate raft therapy.
PPIs reduce stomach acid production, which helps some LPR patients — but LPR symptoms are frequently driven by non-acid components of reflux, especially pepsin, which PPIs don't address. This is one reason many people with throat symptoms see incomplete results from acid suppression alone. Alginate raft therapy takes a different approach: a physical barrier that blocks backflow itself, acid or not. It can be used alongside a PPI or on its own — talk with your provider about your situation.
Laryngopharyngeal reflux — reflux that reaches the throat and voice box rather than stopping in the esophagus. Because it often occurs without heartburn, it's called silent reflux. Typically diagnosed and managed by ENT specialists.
Yes — that's the "silent" part. Episodes too brief to burn the esophagus can still irritate the far more sensitive tissue of the throat.
Patterns to watch: symptoms worse after meals or in the morning, a voice that degrades over the day, and no cold or allergy that explains it. Only a clinician can diagnose LPR — an ENT is the right specialist to ask.
Lemon Ginger or Berry Burst after meals — same Enhanced Alginate Therapy, two flavors; Lemon Ginger adds ginger for throat soothing. If mornings are your worst time, that points to nighttime reflux: add Midnight Berry PM before bed. (link to nighttime hub)
Blanket elimination diets are hard to sustain, and triggers vary by person. Many people find that taking RefluxRaft after meals reduces how much individual foods dictate their symptoms. Work with your provider on what's right for you.
Yes — it's non-systemic and compatible with most medications, including PPIs. Check with your provider about your specific regimen.
The raft forms within minutes and lasts up to 4 hours per serving. Throat tissue that's been irritated for months settles gradually — consistency after meals matters more than any single dose.
Alginate is a food-derived fiber generally well tolerated for daily use, with no rebound effect and no dependency. Check with your provider if you're pregnant, on a sodium-restricted diet, or take medications.
